New York City Walkumentary

New York is a very walkable city. There are so many nooks and crannies to explore– so many hidden jewels. I stumbled upon New York City Walk and found it fascinating. It is the website of Caleb Smith.
Over a two year period (May 2002-December 19, 2004), Caleb walked EVERY street in Manhattan. He ended the 700 mile journey on 33rd Street and Broadway, on the same day Thomas Keane had completed his famous walk 50 years earlier.
The toll: 31 months, 4 pairs of shoes, an aborted mugging and one ex-girlfriend.
Caleb documented his walks with photographs and maps showing his favorite streets. Harlem, he said, had the best architecture.
